3 - Spatial awareness in Airports

Now this is vaguely similar to my rant of many moons ago regarding old people in supermarkets and their irksome habit of standing directly in the way and moving very slowly...some would say that they're just old...I say they're doing it for fun to piss off us young folk...but anyway, like I said, this is *like* that but not quite the same thing. So what do airports and supermarkets have in common then? Well that's an obvious one really...loads of people...and it's not just the crowding that's the bad part it's the 'aimlessly milling about' element that really comes into play here...hoards of people shuffling around one vast room with vacant expressions on their faces until they eventually happen across the hapless crowd of unfortunates who seem to spend *forever* clustered around those awful board things...*shudder*...but that's still not the worst part! You see even when people are doing their aimless zombie-like wander they still manage to retain a modicum of awareness and, if noticing someone walking directly at them, can manage to get out of their way...but all this changes the very second they lay their grimy mitts on one particular item...the dreaded airport luggage trolley.

It's astounding to think that such a simple, allegedly helpful, item can have such a profoundly destructive effect on the fragile psyche of the poor sap who's left in charge of the accursed thing...but destructive they are...you see not only do these infernal contraptions hold true to all the traditional trolley prerequisites, one wheel that either sqeaks irritatingly or spins around madly, an almost magnetic desire to veer suddenly into other passing trolleys and, of course, the odd competitive streak that instantly comes over anyone in "control" of these things leading to the ill advised trolley races and the multi-trolley pile ups that are the inevitable outcome of high speed races with uncontrollable lumps of metal!...but there is another facet that's specific only to the airport variety of trolleys...the fact that the very second someone lays their hand on one of the damn things they instantly lose any grasp of spatial awareness they may have!...and it gets everyone it sould seem...which leads to the special chaos of airports where confused people with no idea where they're going either hare around trying to shatter each other's ankles with their damn trolleys or just stand there...directly in your way as you're obviously trying to get past...sometimes even going so far as to slowly trundle further and further into you as you try to avoid the fucking idiots! I mean it *must* be the trolleys fault yes? Or is it just that people are cunts...aaaaahhhhhh I think I may have stumbled onto the answer there ;)
